I took a walkabout through an area of Toronto known as the Kensington Market.  It’s an odd assortment of rastafarian head shops, vegan bakeries,  Jamaican restaurants, and vintage clothing shops.  I decided to have lunch at Rasta Pasta.  The wife/owner is Italian.  Her husband is Jamaican.  What results is an odd fusion of Italian and Jamaican dishes.

When I wandered out of Kensington Market and headed downtown, I crossed into Chinatown and discovered that the locals were celebrating the 18th Annual Toronto Chinatown Festival.  The first thing I saw was a stage filled with break dancers, only one of which appeared to be Chinese.

There were also three sets of traditional Chinese dragon dancers who danced their way through the streets.  They later took their costumes off and showed them to children in the crowd.  It was a very “Toronto” day.  Here are some pictures from my walkabout.
