I based this painting on a photograph taken at Battery Park by my friend, Professor Robert Hockett, from Cornell Law School in New York. He is not only a student of law, philosophy, politics, and finance, he also has an eye for dramatic photography.
The painting is oil on canvas board. It is 18″ x 24″. I used the Caravaggio method of painting that I recently learned from Fernando Freitas at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, Canada. My goal was to create a more contemporary painting with the dark and brooding feel of a William Turner or Winslow Homer painting.
